The Right Tool for Any Client – VTScada Client Apps Explained

Each VTScada installation has the ability to become a server for clients looking to connect to the HMI (Human-Machine Interface)*. Since VTScada 11.2 there have been three different server addresses available to the client, each is optimized for a specific type of device or experience. Each of the three client connections is described below:

VTScada Internet Client (VIC)

Best for users who regularly connect to their SCADA server and are using a Windows® computer. The VIC is a Windows® only application which connects to a VTScada server and provides the client with a view the HMI which is identical to that running on the server. The VIC has access to the historian, reporting tools, tag browser, and security manager. Learn More

VTScada Anywhere Client (Anywhere)

Best for users who regularly connect to VTScada on a Mac or Linux computer or those using a modern smartphone or tablet. The Anywhere client is an HTML5 and JavaScript-based client which runs in any modern web browser and can run on any device which supports one of the browsers. Since the later versions of 11.2, the Anywhere Client is nearly identical to the VIC connections but runs in a browser. Like the VIC it now has the ability to access the historian, reporting tools, tag browser, and security manager. Learn More

Most users don’t realize that the Anywhere Client can be configured to look and feel like an app or the VIC. The video below shows how this can be done in the Google® Chrome browser.

Mobile Internet Client (MIC)

The original HTML client, the MIC is best for users with smaller mobile devices or those who are hypersensitive to data usage. It runs in a web browser and automatically converts a VTScada application page into a list of tag statuses with the ability to show trends in an on-screen historical data viewer. Learn More
