Trihedral Hiking Club

Where Nature Meets Community

At Trihedral, we believe that great ideas don’t just happen at desks-they’re sparked on trails, shared over summit views, and strengthened through camaraderie. The Trihedral Hiking Club is a new initiative designed to bring team members together through the joy of hiking and the beauty of the outdoors.

Why a Hiking Club?

The idea was born from a shared love of nature among team members, led by senior VTScada Developers Ryan MacPherson and Joseph van de Kieft, who wanted a way to connect outside of work, stay active, and explore the stunning trails Nova Scotia has to offer. Whether members are a seasoned trekker or just looking for a casual weekend walk, the Hiking Club welcomes all skill levels and interests.

What to Expect

The club organized regular hikes throughout the summer ranging from easy coastal strolls to more challenging forested climbs. Each outing will be an opportunity to:

  • Explore local trails like the Charlie’s Lake Trail, Cape Split, and the Salt Marsh Trail.
  • Build community with fellow Trihedral employees in a relaxed, informal setting.
  • Promote wellness through physical activity and time spent in nature.
  • Share knowledge about hiking gear, safety tips, and trail etiquette.

A Touch of Adventure: Geocaching with Joseph

Adding an extra layer of fun to the hikes, Joe brings his passion for geocaching to the trails. For those unfamiliar, geocaching is a real-world treasure hunt using GPS coordinates to find hidden containers (called “geocaches”) tucked away in nature. Joseph often leads mini geocaching adventures during hikes, turning a simple walk into an exciting quest. It’s a great way to explore the trail more deeply, learn about navigation, and maybe even discover a hidden gem or two!

First Outing: A Great Success!

The club’s inaugural hike took place at Admiral Cove Park, a scenic loop just minutes from Bedford. With perfect weather and a great turnout, the group enjoyed a refreshing walk, plenty of laughs, and even a few wildlife sightings.

Let’s hit the trails together!
